Ron Robinson and Joseph Gress

We were looking for a church that welcomed LGBT+ people from the pulpit and inspired us to live better lives based on spiritual principles. At Pilgrim we found both. From the moment we first attended a little over a year ago, we felt we were home. Pastor Mike reminds those seated in his congregation that they are an LGBT+ affirming congregation and that we as a congregation learn from and are enriched from our LBGT+ brothers and sisters. We immediately felt like we belonged. Then Pastor Mike spoke from the heart and challenged us to grow in our spiritual awareness as individuals and as a community who lives in and engages with the world. It encouraged us to live better lives.

As Joe and I walked out of church that first Sunday, we looked at each other and both exclaimed: I think we have found our church home.

On top of that the congregation embraced us, inviting me to sing in the choir and Joe is participating in a special project to help get our services on Zoom for all who want to join in the service.

An unexpected joy is the architecture of the church. The sun streams in the south facing windows and makes shadow art on the walls behind the pulpit. This living art alone will warm and bless your soul.

We love Pilgrim and are so glad we found an inspiring church community that helps us live a better life.

Editor’s note: Ron and Joe also throw one heck of a Christmas party! Photos below.
