She was 83 years old and had been bravely fighting Alzheimer’s Disease for several years. From humble beginnings to a force to be reckoned with, Maria taught us that love and kindness toward one another was paramount in creating a life well-lived. Maria, along with Bob, was a founding member of our church and a pillar within our church family and our choir. He stood tall, he loved greatly and he loomed large in our hearts. We lost Fred on May 29, 2020, but he remains with us in spirit and through his beautiful family. Fred was a Charter member of Pilgrim Congregational UCC, and over the years served as Moderator, Trustee, and Diaconate member. He was a moderator and representative to the Southwest Association of Michigan Conference of UCC, and a member of the Church and Ministry Committee for the Southwest Association Michigan Conference and UCC Board of Directors. We enjoyed his big and beautiful voice in the church, as well as other choirs, Most importantly, Fred left our church and our community stronger and more loving than he found it.
